Henkel Technologies Protoklin - 301 (D)
Medium duty alkaline cleaner for ferrous & non ferrous surfaces (Immersion application)
Scope & Application :
Protoklin - 301 (D) is an alkaline degreaser designed to remove oils/soils/residual lubricants and other rust preventives from ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces.*This process 1s used by immersion method at ambient temp. To 65'C.
Description & Make-uv Parameters :
(I) | Appearance : | Off white powder |
Chemical composition : | Blend of silicates, carbonates, phosphates, Surfactants/emulsifiers.
(II) | Solubility : | Readily soluble in water |
pH of working conc. : | 8- 12
Concentration : | 4 - 6 % | |
Working Temperature : | Ambient - 65'C
Time : | 5 - 15 min. (varies as per the oiVgrease Contaminants) |
*For operating at room temp, pre-cleaning with solvent emulsion cleaners (Prototex -2) is required. For light oils, single stage cleaning of Protoklin 301 (D) at 55-65'C temp. Is adequate.
Testing Control & Replenishment :
10 ml of aliquot (bath solution) is titrating with 0.1N H2S04 using methyl orange as ind~catorT. he end point is the change of yellow colour to light pink. The volume of 0.1N H2S04 consumed denotes the Dointage. The pointage for 5% solution (W/v) should be between 55-65.For every pointage, less 0.9-kg of PROTOKLIN 301 @) is required to 1000 ltrs of bath volume.
Oil content :
Take 50 ml degreasing bath sample in separating funnel. Add 50 ml. Carbon Tetrachloride. Shake vigorously for 10 mins. Allow to separate in two layers.Remove Carbon Tetrachloride layers in a beaker. Allow to evaporate Carbon Tetrachloride in boiling water bath. Weigh the beaker to 4 decimal point = X. Take a clean beaker and weigh it to 4 decimal places = Y. Difference in weight = X - Y = 'w' gms.iltr..
Oil content in degreasing should not be more than 4 gms.ilit.
The bath needs to be fully discarded after attaining the maximum oil content limit.
Tank Material Construction :
Mild steel tank is suitable for PROTOKLIN 301 (D) bath.Safety & Handling Precaution :
Chemical contact with skin, eyes, mouth and clothings should be avoided. If it comes in contact with skin, eyes flush off with water and get medical attention. Use of gloves, boots, eyeshield are recommended while using PROTOKLIN 301 (D).Henkel Surface Technologies Alodine - 6105
Yellow-Chromating of aluminium and zinc - liquid, chromic acid containing product.
Fields of application : | Alodinea6105 is a liquid chromatising product. Dissolved in water it will produce on aluminum and zinc as well as on their alloys a light yellow iridescent to brass-yellow chromate coating of 0.1 - 1.0 glsqm. The coating pmduced provides excellent protection from getting corroded and will ensure a good adhesion to coatlngs of paints and plastics. |
Alodinee6105 is used by either spraying or immersion.
Process components : | Alodine 6105 |
Alodine Replenisher 6105
Make up : | Initial charge for 1000 litres bath : |
The tank should be filled half with water and agitated by ~nnintgh e pump. Now add
Alodine 6105 12.3 kg or 10
and fill up with water to 1000 litres
Operating conditions : | Cr(V1)- points : 8-9 |
PH-value (immersion) 1.6.2.2
pH-value (spray) 2.0 - 2.4
Temperature 20-4O oC | |
Time (spray) 30-120 s | |
Time (immersion) 1 - 5 min
Spraying Pressure 0.5 - 1 bar
Process seauence : | 1. Clean 1 Etch |
2. Rinse | |
3. Deoxidizing | |
4. Rinse | |
5. Chromating with Alodine" 6105
6. Rinse | |
7. DI-Rinse | |
8. DIY Alodine 6105 | |
Bath maintenance : | The Alodine 6105 coating chemical balh is controlled in the plant by titration of Cr(VI)-points and a pH check. |
Cr(V1)points : | Titration : |
1. Pipette 10 ml sample of the Alodine C 6100 coating chemical bath into a flask and dilute with 50 ml distilled water.
1. Add 20 rnl of 25% H2SO4. and 2-3 g Potasium Iodide
1. Titratea galnst 0.1 N sodium ihlosulphate solution unhl the colour changes from brown to yellow.
1. Add several ml of soluble starch solution to the sample and continue the titration until the blue-black colour disappears.
1. Record the number of ml of 0.1 N sodium thiosulphate solution used as CR(VI)-points
Replenishment : | Add 2.3 kg or 1.96 I Alodine Replenisher 61050 per 1000 1 of the bath for each Cr(VI)-point lacking |
The bath should be kept within 8 - 9 Cr(Vl) - points
pH Determination : | A pH determination should be made each time the Nodine 6105 bath has been replenished. |
The optimum pH lies between 1.8 and 2.2 for immersion application and between 2.0 - 2.4 for spray application.
If the pH is too hlgh diluted nitric acid will be added. If it is too low caustic soluhon (less than 5%) wll be added.
Remarks : | The tank material containing Alodine 6105 should be made out of rigid PVC (free of plasticisers) or austenic steel (type 1.4571). |
Alodine 6105 should not come Into contact with pure iron
Hooks and basket will have to be made out aluminum, rigid PVC (free of plasticisers) or austenic steel
Spraying systems, pumps and heat exchangers have to be made out of stainless steel (type 1.4571)
Baihs of Alodine 6105 as well as its rinsing bath are not to be discharged into the public sewage system without prior detoxification and neluralisation.
Caution : | Alodine 6105 contains chromium trioxid and hydrofluoric acid. |
Wear - Eye goggles, rubber gloves acid resistant wear. Avoid contact with skin ! Provide as circulation
